HELPLESS AS WE WERE!
As we stared at him, helplessly... Our friend has left the clas, the school and till then, all is not known. I vaguely remembered how FORM TEACHER had treated him. He was there infront, shaming, discriminating and insulting him. Every small actions he took had dealt severe blows towards our friend, 'jimmy'. All these verbal abuse he had been through has obviously affected him mentally if not emotionally.A chance should have been given to 'Jimmy' though all the teachers had tried. It was he himself who did not cherish it. But during his journey in our school, he must have surely felt lonely, lost, left out and dishearten by people's attitude towards him. So far, none of us are able to see through his talents and strengths but i am confident that he has them. He had just gaven up his many chances to prove to us what he could do, and had made himself miserable instead. He even 'abused' his friends jokingly in someway or another but when treated the same way himself, he is greatly hurt. So what does he expect? Since he has departed for now, from the world of work, We shall not further discriminate him. Though his attitude towards life, greatly disgusted me, i do hope he would be back. afterall everyone deserves a chance to study and lead a normal life.
FORM TEACHER has also got us all affected but however i am strong enough to withstand it. On the other hand, its not whether 'Jimmy' is weak enough so as to suffer, but its the quality and quantity of insults directed towards him. Firstly, here's a basic personal view due to my past experience: all teachers should not do as folow.
1) gender discriminate
2) based on physical appearance
3) based on students weaknesses
4) or towards personal liking
this obviously goes the same to pupils.
FORM TEACHER even drove him to a stage where is almost beyond help, where 'Jimmy; received continous scoldings, remarks that affected him, eg. being a burden to a class, a hopeless fellow. His behavior has caused it though, being late, skipping school, the late submission or work. 'Jimmy' is also pratically affected by his peers who joked bout him being 'ugly, smelly, fat, stupid, disgusting and useless'. Some girls just do not spare a thought for them. one girl told me she didn't feel guilty about his state now as she has apologised. BUT.. is it of any use?? nothing can clear that feeling in his heart. Since, he has changed his attitude towards school life. We all witnessed him transforming from a cute, intelligent boy to an introvert, weirdo who is always leaving his work uncomplete, including his test papers. FOR his malay, he actually scored zro over thirty, and for maths, he scored ( half a ten over twice of twenty-five)! all the teachers picked on him to say he keeps sleeping in class, and always repeatedly list out his bad points and... FINE! enough of this talk.
Now the commemoration of Teachers Day and this significant even seems to clashed together. I am grateful to all those teachers out there being so kind to us, with every little thing to do but what about FORM TEACHER??? does he expect us to treat him well? must we put on a mask and show that we love him? how? What will become of 'Jimmy'? Is all hope lost?
